Filming Location Spotlight – “Looker” (1981)

On the second and fourth Friday of every month in 2020, Limelight Magazine spotlights the filming location site(s) we visited for some of our favorite (and not so favorite) films. Today we spotlight a filming location for the 1981 movie “Looker” which was directed by the late Michael Crichton. The top photo of is a screen shot taken from the movie while the photo underneath is what the location looks like today.

In the movie, the walkway bridge is part of Digital Matrix but in actuality, it’s the Hillside Campus of ArtCenter School of Design located at 1700 Lida Street in Pasedena, CA.

FILMING LOCATION SPOTLIGHT – “MAUSOLEUM” (1983)

On the second and fourth Friday of every month in 2020, Limelight Magazine will spotlight the filming location site(s) we visited for some of our favorite (and not so favorite) films. Today we spotlight some of the filming locations for the 1983 movie Mausoleum which was directed by Michael Dugan. The top photo is a screen shot taken from the movie while the photo underneath is what the location looks like today.

The mausoleum and gravestones from this movie are located inside Evergreen Cemetery, 204 North Evergreen Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.

Filming Location Spotlight – “House” (1985)

On the second and fourth Friday of every month in 2020, Limelight Magazine will spotlight the filming location site(s) we visited for some of our favorite (and not so favorite) films. Today we spotlight the filming location for the 1985 movie House which was directed by Steve Miner. The top photo is a screen shot taken from the movie while the photo underneath is what the location looks like today.

The house from this movie is located at 329 Melrose Avenue in Monrovia, CA. When we visited this location, the street was under construction. We attempted to move the recycling bin in front of the house for the photo but the police officer directing traffic would not let us do so. He did allow us to take the photo from our rental car.

‘Falcon Crest’ filming locations

Falcon Crest is an American television show that aired on CBS for nine seasons from December 4, 1981, to May 17, 1990. It aired after Dallas at 10 p.m. on Friday nights for most of its run and a total of 227 episodes were produced. It was a top 30 show for its first six seasons, reaching a peak of #7 during its third season (1983-1984). On a recent trip to Napa Valley, I couldn’t resist taking screen shots from the DVDs of the first two seasons and finding the actual filming locations to see what they looked like today. Unfortunately, I was unable to get any photos at the Spring Mountain Winery which served as the exterior of the estate of Angela Channing (portrayed by the late Jane Wyman).

FILMING LOCATION SPOTLIGHT – “FRIDAY THE 13TH” (1980)

The original movie “Friday the 13th” was released on May 9, 1980 and today is the 34th anniversary of its release. Last month, we ventured to Blairstown, NJ, and a few other nearby towns where the movie was filmed to see what everything looks like today. Below is our photos from the trip. The top photo is a screen shot taken from the movie. The photo underneath it is what the area looks like today.
